Joseph R. Pelosi, 80, passed away at his home in Warwick, Monday, December 21, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Davida (Pezzuco) Pelosi and was the son of the late Antonio and Cecilia (Legrante) Pelosi and late brother John Pelosi.
He was born in Warwick and was a resident in the city for 60 years with the other 20 years living in the City of Cranston with his 4 boys; Joseph Pelosi, Dr. David Pelosi, Stephen Pelosi, Matthew Pelosi and daughter Dr. Michele Pelosi. He raised his children with a military bearing which was one of respect and honor, which all turn out to be respected community members. He leaves his step-son Peter Pauley. Also, Joseph leaves his 7 grandchildren; Brittney, Alexandria, Joseph, David, Jared, Brandon, Antonio and Katarina along with his 5 great grandchildren and nephews Michael and Christopher and nieces Wendy and Angelina.
While at Cranston East High School he became an avid guitarist and started up a popular local 50’s band with his best friend and brother-in-law Raymond Dinucci, drummer and his ex-wife Sheila Dinucci, vocalist. After graduating Cranston East High School, 1958 Joseph and Raymond joined the US Navy serving together until 1963.
In 1969, Joseph went on the job with the Cranston Police and served the City as a Patrolman and Detective. His police brothers all respected him. In the 70’s he was a “PIG”. That’s right Joseph was . . . P -Polite, full of I -Integrity and had a ton of
G -Guts. His police brother always look for him in battle, as he was very tough and fair. He would give you the shirt off his back if you were in need or just asked. He ran the Cranston Police Relief Association for 14 years canvassing for donations from the local business community to make sure that the association continued support for those unfortunate Cranston police families. He retired from the job with 25 years of service in 1994. At this time Joseph opened up the Cranston Stadium Card and Comics on Park Avenue in Cranston and ran this business will an open-heart, catering to the local children in the Cranston neighborhoods. In 2010, he permanently retired to his home in Warwick enjoying his visits with his family and friends and travels with his wife Davida to Tampa, FL visiting family and friends and Lexington, KY visiting the horse stables around Church Hill Downs.
