Eugene J. Danis, Sr. Obituary

Eugene J. Danis, Sr., 95, of West Warwick passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Helen (Laframboise) Danis and the late Phoebe (Lemois) Danis.
He was born in West Warwick on July 23, 1921, a son of the late John and Matilda (Bruneau) Danis.
Eugene worked as a plasterer before going into business for himself as the owner of Danis Excavation for over 35 years. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the 68th Signal Aircraft Warning Detachment as a heavy truck driver. He was stationed in England, France, and Germany. He was a member of the West Warwick A.A.R.P. Chapter 2210 and enjoyed gardening, bowling and walking.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Raymond Danis of Hope Valley, Eugene Danis of Cranston, and Paul Danis of Pennsylvania; a daughter, Jacqueline Foster of North Carolina; two stepdaughters, Annette Leland of West Warwick and Eveline Hewitt of Florida; one stepson, Ronald Valliere of Massachusetts; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Roland Danis and Lorraine Matolla and the brother of the late Irene Phaneuf and Normand Danis.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 8 am from the Potvin-Quinn Funeral Home, 45 Curson Street, West Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Christ the King Church, 120 Legris Avenue, West Warwick. Interment with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Visiting hours are Friday 4-7 pm.
